Book Review – Manifest: 7 Steps to Living Your Best Life

Book Review – Manifest: 7 Steps to Living Your Best Life by Roxie Nafousi

As we head into 2025, filled with renewed passion and purpose to pursue big goals and dreams, it seems like the perfect time to share a book review of this practical guidebook to harnessing your full potential!

Let’s start here – what is Manifesting?
According to Nafousi’s book, it is “the ability to create the exact life you want”. Sounds appealing, right? What I love about this particular book is Nafousi presents the seven steps to securing your dreams in an easy to implement and take action way. It takes the “woo” out of the equation and make manifesting a meeting of science and wisdom.

As always, I want to share some of my favorite highlights from this month’s book in hopes that it will inspire your to move toward manifesting your own magic!

Early on, in the introduction, Nafousi addresses the science of the system. “We can use neuroplasticity (our brain’s ability to change and form new pathways through growth, learning and experience) to raise our subconscious feelings of self-worth and to override limiting beliefs, while priming our brain to see opportunity and align our behavior toward our desired goals.” In other words, Mind Over Matter.

Next, she discusses the importance of vision and visualization. The key, she points out, to visualize effectively is to immerse yourself in the feeling of having the things you want. Visualization trains our brain to behave differently, more aligned with the new opportunities we want to welcome. It connects the vision of our future self to our identity, an important part of creating desired growth.

She also underscores that manifestation is not passive. It’s not making a wish and hoping it comes true. “Whenever you want to manifest something into your life, you have to align your behavior by taking action and being proactive.” This particular section of the book resonated with me, because taking action is a step I often see overlooked when working with clients in my coaching business. And this is where the book gets even better, with specific prompts to address the excuses and challenges that keep us from realizing our greatest potential. By confronting both, we are able to more fully step into ourselves, create a more authentic version of us, which then empowers us to continue to evolve and bring our visions to life.

Perhaps my favorite section of the book is about overcoming obstacles. Nafousi’s concise advice to address challenges is this: “Whenever a test appears, you can choose to respond from a scarcity mindset (there is not enough to go around) or an abundance mindset (there is more than enough for everyone and there is an abundance of opportunity).” This was an ah-ha moment for me – shifting from scarcity to abundance was so pivotal to my own thought processes that abundance became my 2024 word of the year. I chose it so I could intentionally and actively practice coming from a place of abundance with every opportunity I was given.

Nafousi also addresses topics like fear and doubt, gratitude and appreciation, and how to turn envy into inspiration. She concludes her book by talking about the power of trust – in ourselves and in timing.

One of my favorite quotes in the book is this: “The secret of getting what you want from life is to know what you want, and believe you can have it.” Norman Vincent Peale
Clarity of vision, consistent action and true belief in the journey to realize your dreams is the pathway to manifesting success!
