As an aspiring professional who wanted to make her mark, this client was drowning in commitments and appointments that did not fulfill her, which was creating dissonance and dissatisfaction with her lifestyle.
The Problem
She felt overwhelmed, unorganized, and her priorities weren’t clear
She overcommitted her schedule to others and underprioritized her own needs and health efforts
The Goal
To create clear priorities in order to reduce her stress and increase her commitment to the things she is passionate about.
To remove chaos and create more calm in her work and personal life.
The Steps to Resolve
We organized a day to meet and do a “brain dump” onto flip chart sheets (which I typed up once we were done into a Google sheet) with “all the things” swirling around in her head and on to do lists
For each to do item, we assigned a category: urgent, soon, revisit later, eliminate and delegate.
We prioritized the Urgent list, putting dates in her calendar to work on and target completion dates too. We then did the same for the Soon list and the Delegate list.
We regularly revisited the lists to check on progress, mark tasks off and move tasks around when it made sense.
The Results
“I feel so accomplished without having to make major adjustments. That’s a huge win! I am DEFINITELY motivated to see results.”
She has a clearer list of priorities which created a calmer headspace and helped with the negative self talk.
She had clearly defined timelines and deadlines for each project and was able to fully focus on each task.
By delegating and eliminating some responsibilities she freed up time and bandwidth to move her health and self care up in her priority list.
