Turkey Chili
Turkey chili is perfect to warm up in a heart healthy – and delicious – way! This recipe is so simple to make and satisfying to eat – use it for family dinners or to feed a crowd. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp olive or avocado oil
- 1/2 bell pepper, diced
- 1 tbsp garlic, minced
- 1 lb 93% lean ground turkey
- 2 cups chicken bone broth
- 14 oz canned diced tomatoes
- 4½ oz canned chopped green chiles (we like it Hot but you can use Mild)
- 6 oz tomato paste
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1/2 tbsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
Instructions:
Add oil to a large soup pot and heat to medium-high heat. Once hot, add bell pepper. Sauté until soft, approximately 3 minutes. Ada minced garlic and sauté until golden, about 1 minute. Add the ground turkey, using a spatula to crumble it. Sauté the meat, stirring occasionally, until no longer pink. Add in all other ingredients. Stir to combine. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Taste & add extra salt or seasonings if desired. Serve – and top with your favorite toppings (I like a spoonful of nonfat Greek yogurt on top, my husband prefers sour cream shredded cheddar cheese).
